I saw this sailing scene while I was researching for another sailing painting. I knew at once I must paint it. Thankfully, it was on a website that allowed me to pay for the rights to paint from it. This scene reminded me of my childhood - sailing with my parents. My father was a boat builder, so boats have been a huge part of my life. While sketching out the scene I decided to change the characters to be me as a child with my parents. Those that know me will recognise the red hair that runs in my family.
